Situated in Lake Nicaragua, two vulcanos are forming the island of Ometepe. It got it's name by the origin natives, the Nahuatl indians more than 2.000 years ago. Ome = two and Tepetl = mountain, meaning two mountains.
Moyogalpa, with its harbour, and Altagracia on the eastern side of the island are the most important villages on this 276 km2 island.
Around 35.000 people living on this exotic destination. It is perfect to explore exotic nature, climbing vulcanos or take a sunbath on the beach. Especially its old history and archeologic treasures makes it interesting to discover.
