Situated in Lake Nicaragua, two vulcanos are forming the island of Ometepe. It got it's name by the origin natives, the Nahuatl indians more than 2.000 years ago. Ome = two and Tepetl = mountain, meaning two mountains.

 

Moyogalpa, with its harbour, and Altagracia on the eastern side of the island are the most important villages on this 276 km² island.

 

Around 35.000 people living on this exotic destination. It is perfect to explore exotic nature, climbing vulcanos or take a sunbath on the beach. Especially its old history and archeologic treasures makes it interesting to discover.
